Frequently Asked Questions
1. What items do you accept for donation?
Carolina Thrift accepts anything that you might expect a college student to utilize in their dorm. This includes clothing, books, appliances, furniture, and school supplies. If you live off campus, you can find out location and arrange a collection pick up by filling out a donation form.
2. What if I am a community member? Can I donate items and come to the Fall sale?
Absolutely! In fact one of our hopes for this project is for it to help build the greater Chapel Hill community. Members of the community are welcome to drop off items at any of our public donation locations or schedule a donation pick up. If you have a suggestion for a donation location, please let us know through our Contact Us portal.
3. Where do the profits go?
We used excess revenues to create the CTSF (Carolina Thrift Sustainability Fund), a sustainability fund for on-campus organizations to explore their own environmental endeavors.
4. What happens to the items you don’t sell?
Our Sustainability Directors are in the process of identifying the most appropriate local non-profit organizations for our surplus items to be donated to.
