FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What items do you accept for donation?

Carolina Thrift accepts anything found in a dorm! This includes clothing, books, appliances, furniture, school supplies, and more. Starting May 2023, if you live off campus, fill out our donation form to schedule an item pickup!

2. What if I am a community member? Can I donate items and come to the Fall sale?

Absolutely! Beginning May 2023, members of the Chapel Hill community are welcome (and encouraged!) to drop off items at any of our public donation locations or schedule a donation pick up. If you have a suggestion for a donation location, please let us know through the Contact Us portal.

3. Where do the profits go?

We use excess revenues to create the CTSF (Carolina Thrift Sustainability Fund), a sustainability fund for on-campus organizations to explore their own environmental endeavors.

4. What happens to the items you don’t sell?

Our Sustainability Directors are in the process of identifying the most appropriate local non-profit organizations for our surplus items to be donated to.
